Welcome to the start of the Cathedral School of St. Jude ’25-’26 school year! This is a landing spot for those of you interested in more information about the upcoming after school Comicbook Clubhouse meetings. There will be a sign up sheet with the finalized information distributed to students in the coming weeks so keep your peepers peeled.
The tentative plan is to start in September and have club meetings every other Tuesday until 4pm. The club is open to students from grades 2nd through 8th. Enrollment for the club will be for the Fall semester. If things go well and circumstances allow me the time, I’ll be having another session for the Spring semester with its own sign up period happening over the Winter.
Club activities are fun with a focus on learning; writing, drawing, handwriting, narrative structure, and reading comprehension. There’s a mini curriculum that features guided drawing, designing characters, making short comic strips, collaborative comics, comic book lettering, and ‘zine building.
Each session has a time for prompted drawing and/or reading. I’ve collected a small library of age appropriate comic books and graphic novels for children to use during our time together, but I’m always looking for donations. If you have any comic books/graphic novels that you could contribute to the club please leave them at the front office. If you are interested in volunteering or have any general questions please email: csjextracurricluars@gmail.com
I look forward to seeing your kids creating comics and sharing their creativity.
